Hello, I'm Dr Casey McGivern and I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist. Working in mental health is my passion and I am privileged to work with people who are often facing an incredibly difficult time in their lives.
I have over 9 years' experience working in Clinical Psychology settings with adults, children and families. This includes assessing and providing psychological therapy for presentations such as addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, perinatal mental health issues, attachment disorder and relationship difficulties.
I completed my studies and training in Queen's University Belfast, where I obtained my Undergraduate Psychology degree, Master's Psychology degree and Clinical Psychology Doctorate:
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
MSc Atypical Child Development
BSc Psychology (Hons)
I have completed further training in EMDR therapy for the treatment of Trauma and Video Interaction Guidance to enhance communication in relationships with caregivers and their infants/children. I also have research interests in the factors that contribute to problematic drinking behaviour.
As a Clinical Psychologist, my work is supervised to ensure best safe, effective and ethical practice. I am interested in learning about the many different factors which influence people throughout their lives, such as childhood experiences, current relationships, health, disability and cultural influences, to name a few. This allows me to take a holistic approach to problems, considering your personal story and context. I’m happy to see you alone, as a couple, with your child – whatever suits you best.
